The Gosport Cycle Group was out in the beautiful sunshine this week!
The veterans met outside the Café Hub for a speedy 8.5 km ride, completed in just 28 minutes. They were keen to cycle at a fast pace to relieve stress and push themselves up the hills. One veteran said that “joining this group has been the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve lost two stone since June and feel so much healthier and fitter. I only use my car for work, and cycle everywhere else”.
Whilst on the ride, the group came across another veteran who attends the Hub. This veteran is a volunteer for Gosport Voluntary Action and runs a litter picking session for the local community; he stated that he wouldn’t be doing it without the support of FirstLight Trust.
We are incredibly happy to see more veterans building their confidence to pursue work and find fulfilling pursuits. All of this whilst improving their mental wellbeing, physical health and looking after the environment.
Please consider donating to this project to enable more veterans to attend FirstLight activities, grow their confidence and thrive in their communities.
