Back to the Waters!

By Kelly Martin | CEO

Hello Conservation Enthusiasts!

We are happy to report we have had a busy few months engaging students and communities in conservation activities. Our team have also retunred to the waters, in partership with CORDIO, assisting them in collecting vital underwater data on marine habitats. They will also be engaging in more scuba diving in partnerhsip with a local diving company, Scuba Duka, where they will be able to continue documenting the multitude of marine species along the Kenyan coast. We are incredibly proud of our female scientists, who will then be able to use this inrfomation to inform and educate students and communties.

Here's a breakdown of what we have been up to in the last quarter;

  • In August, we finished our summer programme with international students from Camps International. In total we completed 15 beach clean ups, removing over 35,000 items of trash.
  • In September, we participated in the International Coastal Cleanup celebrations. We also returned to our weekly sessions on marine conservation at a local women's college.
  • In October, we joined forces with the Bahari Huru festival. They joined us in Kwale County to perform a drama piece on ocean conservation. This was a incredibly successful weekend with over 300 attendees. We also conducted a beach clean up, removing over 230kg of trash!

We will let you know what species we encounter in the next quarter, to support our research and education, please donate today!

Please do get in touch if you have any questions.

Thank you from all of us at Conservation Education Society!
