Big Plans For The Conservation Education Society in 2023

By Kelly Martin | CEO

Dear Friend,

We firstly hope you have had a great start to 2023! We are happy to report that our 2023 so far has been productive and we have much planned in the coming months. In the last quarter we achieved the following;

  • Ran several international 1-day conservation education programmes in partnership with Camps Kenya.
  • Continue to run our weekly conservation lessons at a nearby all girl’s college, welcoming a group of new students, we are currently learning about different types of plastic.
  • We joined forces with several conservation groups to run a conservation festival in Watamu, a small town found north coast of Kenya. Over 300 community members and students attended.
  • Attended and funded the participation of 2 community groups to join in at the Diani Regatta Festival, an annual event celebrating local culture.

We have already started working on our 4th Sea Turtle Festival, which will bring over 300 students together to join in on the day, along with community groups, tourists and citizens. We have a jammed-packed June, July and August, running education programmes for international students from Camps International.

We are also excited to announce that the Conservation Education Society will be setting up a new education centre, which will enable us to reach even more students and teachers, we plan to bring local students to the new centre to learn about marine conservation and other important conservation topics. This space will be a great opportunity to engage our community in conservation!

Our all-female workforce continues to be involved in research, education and empowering other women of all ages to engage in conservation science. We will have a few exciting projects coming up in 2023, which will require us to fundraise for. We will be promoting these on GlobalGiving in the coming months. Due to this, we have decided to shut down this campaign but will share the new campaigns with you in the next 3 months, we thank you for supporting this activity and we do hope you continue supporting our other projects in the future!

Please also check out our newsletters by visiting our website (link below), to keep updated with our activities.

Thank you for your time and support, without you it would not be possible!

Yours faithfully

CES Team
