In December, Diakassan and Billy participated in a Fencing competition and received both silver medals and monetary award. Diakassan’s performance in fencing led to her selection to represent Mali in the African Championship in Algeria in Feb 2019. More to follow as the completion results start to trickle in. In school also, she is thriving: she received a whooping GPA of over 16, ranking in the top 5% of the country.
In December, two members of ACFA board of directors accompanied by CEO Kadiatou visited Mali to assess operations and to meet with numerous donors and government officials. The children are doing extremely well and continue to thrive in both their academic, extra curricular, vocational trainings, and sport venues.
The team noted the need to open Zorokoro in 2019 in order to receive 25 more children. To do this, we need to raise an operating budget $35,000. Every donation help us achieve the mission that we have set for ourselves.
To ensure that our children are not behind their peers in school, we’ve enrolled our two new high school children, Adama and Lassine, into special computer science classes. They’ve loved the courses and are very much interested in continuing in the Science subject.
Our coordination with our psychologist and other on the ground organizations, led to the establishment of a special curriculum to support our growing children’s sexual education needs. This has proved already to be a success based on the feedback from both the staff and the children themselves.
Thank you for your support and the opportunity that you give us to continue our mission of brining hope to Mali’s vulnerable children.
