SITUATIONAL AWARENESS

Dear supporters of ACFA,

As you may be aware from the news reports, and as supporters of ACFA operations based in Mali, I feel it necessary to inform you that Mali has been troubled over the last few months.  Commencing in
January 2012, rebels have engaged the country's military into war in the north of Mali.  As of now, estimates have over 175,000 Malians displaced in both the country itself, and neighboring countries.  The situation has deteriorated the past few days in the culmination of a military coup in Bamako last week.

ACFA's children are doing fine.  They are located about 4 miles from Bamako where the events occurred.  Currently, they are enjoying spring break.  We canceled their extracurricular activities such as karate, basketball, math, English and French classes.  Although there is still no government established in the country, as of yesterday, offices have resumed functions.  With the rest of the country, ACFA children resumed their basketball and English classes today.  They will remain on spring break until Monday 02 April 2012.

Thank you for your continued support and we will keep you informed. In the meantime should you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact our CEO at kadiatou@acfacorp.org.
