Today is the United Nation’s Universal Children Day!!!! We are pleased to participate in the efforts of this year’s theme: stop violence against children. At ACFA we take children from the streets where they are exposed to violence and give them a home, health care, and an education and turn them into adults who can contribute to their country’s economic development.

Ebola is now in Bamako: the country has lost some people and hundreds are now quarantined. Our children are all safe as we’ve taken a few measures to protect them. We are using hand sanitizers, and we have limited visits to minimize exposure to uncertain conditions. The staff has also limited their travels. We have increased the frequency of our established periodic vaccination and wellness checks. We are also participating in the country’s suggested program of “all children wash their hands with soap at least 4 times a day”.

The children completed their summer programs, and have returned to school. During this summer, they’ve learned to tailor, to repair motorcycle, to excel at woodwork, and to cook. For the October reporting period, 75% of them ranked in the top 50% of their respective classes.

At Zorokoro, construction of the first dorm is completed, and it has running water. We are now installing solar electricity and the next project will be to build a kitchen and a recreation building for the children before receiving the first children by May 2015.

This quarter, the children received clothes donation from volunteers. They enjoyed choosing the favorite clothes with the right size. For the holiday season, we are privileged to use free of charge space available to ship all the clothes, shoes, books and toys donated by U.S. donors to ACFA in the past few months.

Our work is only possible because of your generosity. To learn more about us and to support our everyday efforts, please visit: http://acfacorp.org/en/. Please celebrate the U.N. Universal Children Day by donating to ACFA at: http://www.acfacorp.org/en/donate-page-xmfrom-the-heartxm/english-categories/donation/donations.

Thank you for supporting our efforts towards attaining our vision.
