Dear Friends and Partners of Keep The Dream196,

Well what an exciting quarter we have had.

Firstly, and most importantly, Keep The Dream196 turned 10yrs of age officially. I say officially because Elizabeth Mabuza and I started the program 14yrs ago but only registered the business 10yrs ago and quit our safe day jobs to enter into the unknown realm of running our own non profit/charitable organization and what a journey it has been. We have grown from 400 children in 2007 and 50 volunteers to now over 1,800 in 2017. During this time we have supported and trained in excess of 10,000 children in values, morals, food for life, environmental education and leadership skills just to name a few. We continue to have amazing impact due to the passion of the KTD196 staff and the active participation of the community leaders and children.

  1. Teenage pregnancy rate in Limpopo is 13% - statistically we should be seeing between 18-200 girls pregnant each year. In the last 14yrs we have seen 8pregnancies.
  2. Limpopo has an average of 64% matriculation pass rate- Keep The Dream196 has a pass rate of 91%, the children all go to the same government schools.
  3. 10% of all natural deaths in South Africa for children is believed to be suicide - we have had no suicides

Secondly, Elizabeth Mabuza and Nkululeko Mabuza were awarded the South African Scouting Hero Award which is a wonderful recognition of the work they do and the impact they have. We are so very proud of their achievements. This includes achieving Gold, Silver and Bronze in the National Star Awards for Scouts which means our scout program is recognised as very successful.

Thirdly, we have been filmed by SABC2 (South African Broadcasting Commission) and this program will be aired on SABC2 on the 19th December at 2030 if you are available, if not I have been told it will be on YouTube at some point.

I hope you have enjoyed this catch up email. Please if you have not donated for a while would you consider donating on a regular or once of basis again. Raising funds is becoming increasingly more difficult and we would like to continue our program for the future generations. If you are currently donating to our program, thank you. Unfortunately thank you just doesnt explain the level of gratitude and overwhelming joy we experience through your gift. Please do not ever think the amount you are donating is too small, it isn't, every cent is valuable.

I also want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year

Blessings
