The school of Sao Francisco de Assis - Mangunde, located in Chibabava District, Sofala Province, Mozambique, plans to implement an environmental and educational initiative through its School Environmental Club by establishing a seedling nursery and a sustainable school garden. The project aims to actively engage students, teachers, and the wider school community in practical activities related to environmental education, sustainable agriculture, and nutrition.
Many students at school of Sao Francisco de Assis de Mangunde in Chibabava District, Sofala Province, Mozambique, have limited access to practical environmental education and opportunities to learn sustainable agricultural practices. The school currently lacks a nursery and organized school garden, which limits students' ability to engage in hands-on learning related to environmental conservation, climate change awareness, and food production.
This project will address the lack of practical environmental education and limited access to sustainable food production by constructing a school nursery and establishing a school garden at school of Sao Francisco de Assis de Mangunde in Chibabava District. The project will create a protected nursery space where students, through the School Environmental Club, will learn how to produce vegetable and tree seedlings.
In the long term, this project will contribute to creating a sustainable culture of environmental responsibility and practical learning at school of Sao Francisco de Assis de Mangunde and within the surrounding community in Chibabava District. By establishing a school nursery and garden, students will continuously gain hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and climate change adaptation.
