New Hope Centre Moves Ahead Scholastically

New Hope Centre is alive with new possibilities as a result of the success of the Global Giving September Campaign. We never dreamed of coming in first out of 305 worthy projects, but want to thank you for your overwhelming response and caring.

One of the projects we have hoped for years to complete has been the set-up of our computer lab. Now, we have the means to make that happen. As part of the education of our children we are training them to become leaders who will build the infrastructure of this nation. To accomplish this, they are trained in school to reach out to other orphans in the country thru tutoring, speaking, encouraging and even counseling at appropriate levels. Once our own students become proficient in their computer skills this will be added to their list of instructional capabilities throughout other parts of the country. We believe that the children learn best thru attaining knowledge and skills then teaching them to others. There are more than 200,000 orphans in Swaziland so there is no dearth of opportunities for sharing and improving the lives of countless children.

In addition to the educational thrust, we continue to provide the all of the necessities of life for our 50 kids including food, clothing, medical care, hygiene and tutoring for students needing extra educational help. Our children live in home-like settings that include parental-style live-in caretakers who also are being supported by your kind donations. I have included pictures of some of those lodgings. Our school is on-site and the teachers' salaries will also receive a percentage of your donations. One of our school rooms is pictured here along with our training centre where educational enrichment is on-going.

We were blessed to add 22 new monthly donors thru Global Giving. If you were one of those and have not yet started your monthly donations we would like to encourage you to go to the site now and begin. If you have been a one-time donor and would like to start donating monthly we would welcome you to our family with open arms.
