This past three months has been a very busy time at New Hope Centre. It seems that the kids are going in all directions accomplishing the work of their lives. Our Happy Overcomer Preschool graduation took place. It includes some of our own children, but also community kids who are able to partake of the enrichment we can help provide. They will be moving on to primary school next year.
Occasionally some of you have asked how you could become involved at New Hope Centre. Well, we have just the opportunity. We are in need of a house manager for the younger children. It will require someone who is good at organization, oversight of others and, of course, great love. In addition, we are in need of a caregiver for our teenage girls. The same skills are needed there. If you are interested in more detail, please send us an email at newhope@swazi.net.
This month we are ecstatic to announce that Phoebe Abraham, one of our teen girls and a musician and worship leader, has produced a music CD, “My Heart.” Several of her own songs are included in the fifteen musical offerings. They are finally available for distribution and would make marvelous gifts. You can order them through nhcbooks@gmail.com.
Students from Hope Academy participated in our annual music concert in December. It has been delightful to experience the results of the hard work of these kids translated into beautiful music. Many instruments joined together to produce the concert including: Ruth: cello, Esther, Zipporah and Chloe: violins and Phoebe, Zadok and Tutus playing flutes. Abigail and Phoebe brought us the solos while John and Tabitha presented a duet. Our Convention Worship Team and the whole music school led us in worship of the King of kings.
Each year our children are well represented in the All Africa Student Convention in South Africa. This year is no exception. Fourteen students entered various competitions and exhibited admirable skills. Some of the competitions in which they participated were volleyball, expressive reading, instrumental and vocal presentations, track and field, Tailoring and puppetry.
Awards were given to the following kids:
Samuel expressive reading: Bronze
Phoebe flute: Silver
Tabitha and John’s duet: Bronze
Jesse Tailoring: Gold
Zadok and Samuel Puppetry: Gold which earned them a nomination to the ISC Inter-Scholastic Convention in the United States next year. They will need sponsorship to this life-changing event.
The remarkable thing is that these students prepared for all of their competitions themselves with little or no coaching. So we are very proud of their motivation and persistence.
There is much more to share, which we will do in our next report. God bless you and your family from ours with love.
