Thank you for your generous contribution to the Syrian Refugee Relief Fund. Your donations continue to make a difference, ensuring Syrian refugees have access to food, water, shelter, urgent medical aid, and general care as violence and global conflict continue to impact many.

Your recurring support allows GlobalGiving to respond swiftly and effectively to the needs of Syrians in neighboring countries and ones displaced within Syria. Your donation to the Syrian Refugee Relief Fund provides thousands of dollars each year so our team can sustain lasting partnerships with local nonprofits long after the media spotlight fades.

Since our last update, donations from the Syrian Refugee Relief Fund have supported two new grants to high-impact and community-led charitable organizations working tirelessly to help Syrians facing ongoing, long-term displacement in Lebanon, Turkiye, Jordan, and Greece. Here is a short description of some of the critical work you’ve supported recently:

  • Molham Volunteering Team (MVT) was created by Syrian university students to alleviate the suffering of fellow Syrians in Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkiye. Your donation resources projects like MVT’s winterization program, which combats deadly winter conditions for displaced people in Lebanon with ample heating materials, emergency shelter kits, and essential items like mattresses and blankets. MVT is also responding to a recent fire at Ramadan camp in Wadi Al, Lebanon with medical support, shelter, food, and essential aid to displaced Syrians whose shelters were destroyed in this disaster. When they’re not responding to urgent crises, MVT also leads a wide variety of projects in Jordan and Turkiye, such as Ramadan food baskets and education sponsorships programs.
  • Soup & Socks e.V. (SS) is a grassroots organization in the Epirus region of Greece that supports over 3000 refugees and asylum-seekers. Many of the organization’s varied projects center around  “Habibi.Works,” their beautiful community space that offers workshops, skills training, sports and recreation, English classes, and hot meals, especially to the approximately 1,000 refugees and asylum seekers residing in the Katsikas camp—just across the road from Habibi Works. Thriving community centers like Habib.Works help refugees recover from significant emotional traumas, isolation, limited economic opportunities, and inconsistent access to financial support. SS also collaborates with many local organizations to provide legal consultations, women's health workshops, and distributions of essential items.

Your support of the GlobalGiving Syrian Refugee Relief Fund powers community-led responses like these, making a world of difference to ensure no displaced person is left behind. It means Syrian refugees facing more than 13 years of displacement get the critical resources they need to create safe and peaceful lives for themselves and their loved ones.

We cannot say it enough—thank you.

With gratitude,

Kyra + the GlobalGiving Team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
