Tahanan Sta. Luisa Updates for February

By Joan Pachingel | Resource Mobilzation Officer

highlights of February 2014

February in Tahanan Sta. Luisa is a month full of student volunteers - for schools are requiring students to do community service, and Tahanan Sta. Luisa is one of the Non-Government Organizations they go to to conduct it.  Every day, different groups of students visit the center to organize different programs and activites and teach basic English and Math (tutorials) to the TSL girls.

This month, we also had a visitor from two of the long time supporters of TSL - Ms. Kat Nelson and Ms. Isabela Aleta.  The girls also had a field trip courtesy of Mr. Ricardo Dy, who also pledged (like Ms. Nelson) to provide cake for every girl who will celebrate her birthday in the center.

Tahanan Sta. Luisa also had visitors from the Department of Fire Protection and conducted fire drill for the staff and the girls of TSL to secure their safety.

Resource Mobilization-wise, Tahanan Sta. Luisa recently got an approved grant from the Pontificial Mission Society to cover funds for food, medical and education for the year 2014.

February is going well for the girls of Tahanan Sta. Luisa, and with the continuous support of friends and donors, the girls are on their way for healing and recovery from their past experiences.
