Support Needed for Families for Recovery Services

By Anthony Richard Hulula | Director/Project Leader

I hope this message finds you well. On behalf of The NGAO Foundation, I extend our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support. Your generosity enables us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families struggling with addiction.

Our "Target Families for Recovery Services" program continues to empower individuals on their recovery journey. However, as we close the last quarter, we’ve encountered challenges that highlight the need for increased resources to expand our reach and enhance support systems.

Program Overview: November 2024

  • Consistent Attendance: An average of seven members attended meetings in each of our three cohorts. This regular interaction has fostered a sense of community and encouragement among participants.
  • Outreach Success: We welcomed three new members this month and strengthened our follow-up efforts to stay connected with past and current participants.
  • Relapse Challenges: Despite steady progress, one member tragically relapsed due to peer pressure at a social event. This underscores the importance of robust relapse prevention strategies.
  • Economic Hardship: Kinyanjui, a disciplined and hardworking member, was forced to close his thriving business due to financial constraints, highlighting the need for economic resilience support.

Moving Forward: How You Can Help

Your support is crucial to helping us address these challenges and grow our impact. Here are the areas where your assistance can make a difference:

  1. Relapse Prevention Programs:
    • Expand strategies to help members manage triggers.
    • Increase peer support and mentorship from individuals who have successfully overcome addiction.
  2. Economic Empowerment Initiatives:
    • Partner with local organizations to provide business skills training.
    • Connect members with financial resources to sustain their livelihoods.
  3. Community Outreach:
    • Broaden awareness campaigns on the dangers of addiction and its impact on families.
    • Engage local stakeholders to identify and reach more individuals who need recovery support.
  4. Ongoing Follow-Up and Aftercare:
    • Strengthen follow-up procedures to provide consistent post-program support for members.

Why Your Support Matters

The challenges we faced in November emphasize the complexity of addiction recovery. Relapse, economic struggles, and stigma are obstacles that require a multifaceted approach. With your support, we can break these barriers, providing our members with the tools, resources, and encouragement they need to succeed.

Call to Action

We invite you to join us in making a lasting impact on the lives of families in our community. Your financial contribution, partnership, or advocacy for this program can transform recovery journeys and bring hope to those who need it most.

Thank you for standing with us as we strive to create a future where addiction no longer holds individuals or families back. If you have questions or wish to contribute.
