RESCUE FAMILIES FROM ALCOHOLISM BONDAGE

By Anthony Richard Hulula | Director/Project Leader

Introduction
Under the Target Families for Recovery Services project, the NGAO Foundation continues to raise awareness through community engagement and training on the challenges of alcohol addiction in Kangemi. Over the past four months, unlearning the deeply ingrained belief that social drinking generates happiness has revealed the devastating impact of alcoholism, particularly on families and children who bear the brunt of this crisis.

Progress and Achievements

The NGAO Foundation has made significant strides in addressing alcoholism through the use of videos, personal testimonies, and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) materials. We have reached over 120 families and 75 individuals who actively participate in weekly AA sessions. This initiative has proven informative and educational, allowing the community to participate and offer family support to those in need.

However, despite these achievements, more urgent assistance is required to rehabilitate chronic cases. We aim to establish our rehabilitation facility to provide a more sustainable and structured approach to recovery. The community model has been highly effective in fostering awareness, but a dedicated facility will enhance our capacity to offer the much-needed care and treatment for long-term recovery.

The Need for Support

The reality on the ground is distressing—families are financially stretched to the core due to government taxes, unemployment, and economic hardships. Many individuals fall into the trap of alcoholism, believing that drinking will alleviate their struggles. Instead, this leads to job losses, family breakdowns, and in severe cases, death. Children remain the most vulnerable, suffering in silence as their parents’/guardians’ battle addiction.

The NGAO Foundation remains steadfast in its preventive measures, engaging the community in understanding the devastating effects of alcohol addiction on individuals, families, and society at large. However, to continue making an impact, we urgently need financial and structural support to expand our reach and effectiveness.

Conclusion

We need you to journey with us on this life-saving mission. The establishment of a rehabilitation center will be a transformative step toward securing a brighter future for children and families affected by alcoholism. This crisis is not just about addiction—it is about breaking the cycle of suffering and providing a safe and sustainable path to recovery.

We appeal to all individuals, organizations, and well-wishers to join hands with us in rescuing families from the bondage of alcoholism. Your support can create lasting change and save lives.
