We are excited to start our Reading Program this year and would like to thank our sponsors and Penndco Board of Directors for giving us the opportunity to host the Literacy Master Map Program 2019-2020.
Reading comprehension is a critical component of literacy. During this class we would focus on pre-reading skills and connect prior knowledge to the text, make predictions about the text, and use picture clues. Our students will develop and expand knowledge of words and word meanings to increase their vocabulary. The students will be exposed to reading, writing, and playing games that are developed for literacy development. The students will have read aloud. Reading aloud to children stimulates their imagination, develop language, listening skills, and prepare them to understand the written word. The class will also focus on various skills connected to writing. Students will learn how to structure their writing as well as have exposure to a variety of different types of writing. We will also be working on identifying themes, identifying key ideas in a text, and understanding the structure of a text.
Again and again we appreciate all donors for supporting our program and helping us inspire young minds and develop their love for reading.
