Penndco Literacy Master Map Program 2023

Thank Global Giving Foundation!
Thank Global Giving Foundation!

Penndco Literacy Master Map program for children aims to foster a love for reading while developing essential reading and language skills. In the past several months children explored books about animals and nature, allowing them to learn about different species, habitats, and the importance of environmental conservation. Additionally, we read books about diversity, inclusion, and acceptance that helped children develop empathy and understanding towards others. Children enjoyed fairy tales and fantasy books that sparked their imagination, while books about emotions and personal development helped them to learn about self-awareness. By integrating these books into a comprehensive literacy program, children explored, learned, and grew while discovering the joy and power of reading. One of the students, Maxim, has shown significant progress during the last few months. He is beginning to read short sentences aloud in the classroom to the other children. Our newest student Milania is working on letter recognition and sound association. Marharyta enjoys listening to stories and always asking lots of questions during our class.

Children also engaged in reading, listening, and speaking activities related to holiday traditions, expanding their vocabulary and comprehension abilities. Celebrating holidays offered valuable opportunities for children to learn and grow in various ways. It helped children to develop an understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures and backgrounds. Anna Maria and Mya enjoyed making cards for their families. Dominic and Polina recited a poem for Mother’s Day. While the youngest students are working on comprehension, the older students are helping them by reading aloud in groups. We are encouraging children to work as a team during reading activities because it encourages cooperation, active engagement, and a deeper appreciation for the power of shared knowledge and understanding. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our Literacy Master Map program this year. Our special thank you is following to all our donors and supporters!
