Project Report | Jun 6, 2024
Appreciation for Penndco Supporters!

By Tetyana Varenychenko | Project Leader

Dear Penndco Donors!

We would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to have the Literacy Master Map Program  this school year: 2023-2024. Reading opens the door to many new opportunities that our kids could take advantage of.

The course is focused on the most important aspect of reading – comprehension. It is critical that when students are reading, they are understanding what they are reading and are able to analyze the text. We have worked on identifying themes, identifying key ideas in a text, and understanding the structure of a text. All these elements of reading are critical in developing student’s ability to handle texts independently. The class has focused on various skills connected to writing. Students learn how to structure their writing as well as have exposure to a variety of different types of writing. We work on connecting ideas to what children already know. Students develop and expand knowledge of words and increase personal vocabulary by listening to a variety of texts. They express ideas or opinions in group and individual settings. The students are happy with reading, writing, and playing games that are developed for literacy development.

We are sure that our students enjoy new knoweledge, interactions, and social situations. It is a pleasure moment to read the names of our students who want to be the great reader at school: Alexander, Mya, Anna, Maxim, Melania, Dominic, Marharyta... Welcome our new Penndco student NICOLE!

Again and again we thank our sponsors for helping us inspire young minds and develop their love for reading. Thank you Penndco Parents Committee in supporting our Literacy Master Map Program 2023-2024!
