2017 Year-End Campaign
By Enouce Ndeche | Project Principle
When you were a teenager, chances are you needed some guidance to reach your goals. In life, as in soccer, you need assists to score goals. I know I did, and I’m grateful for those who helped me. Every day in developing countries on soccer pitches, in school yards, in classrooms, and on dusty fields, Vijana Amani Pamoja are making an assist for young people—but they can’t do it without your support. Young people in sub-Saharan Africa face the most acute combination of health and economic issues of any population in the world, including HIV, unwanted pregnancy, and gender-based violence. With your help, they can overcome these obstacles and reach their goals. By making an assist, you can empower youth to shine and achieve their goals. On Tuesday, GlobalGiving launched GlobalGiving’s 2017 YEAR-END CAMPAIGN to celebrate our 2017 fundraising campaigns which you have been a great part of it.GlobalGiving is now offering twenty $100 prizes to the first 10 projects to reach 50 donors and the first 10 projects to reach $10,000 by the end of 2017.We are humbly reaching out to YOU to help us be part of the first 10 projects for this campaign.
Thanks,

VAP fc in action
VAP fc plays in the ongoing Nairobi county league of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). Composed of local former lifeskills graduates, most of its players are committed Lifskills coaches who give back to the community, visiting schools and community centres implementing Life Skills programs to other millennials.Led by Ken who wears two hats, serving as VAP’s master coach (life skills trainer) and club’s head coach, the team is looking forward to be promoted next season. “I feel good to be a footballer and to use the same football to empower my community.” Said 17 year old defender Jared .
Girls Tournament
The 3rd annual Wasichana Wacheze (Let Girls play) Top 8 football tournament finals came at a time when Kenya was entangled in a political turmoil and presidential election crossroads. As a warm up and to set up a peaceful atmosphere, all the eight schools that advanced to the finals of Wasichana Wacheze including their teachers, coaches and community members took part in a peace procession walk in the streets of various estates and slum areas which are perceived to be hotbeds of violence. The teams took advantage of all the football skills and equipments at their disposal including whistles, banners and placards with peace messages to send a word of PEACE across the communities.
