We wanted to take a moment to share some of the inspiring stories from our students. Despite the challenges they face—both from the ongoing crisis in Northern Thailand and in their personal lives—our students continue to show remarkable resilience and determination.
Today, we’re excited to highlight three young women in our program who have shown exceptional growth and strength. These girls share their personal experiences, dreams, and the impact that The Freedom Story has had on their lives.
Sarah, a student who is nineteen, shares, “The Freedom Story has gradually transformed both me and my family for the better, and now we can clearly see significant positive changes in our lives. Where I am now and the position my family and I are in today is thanks to the ongoing support, guidance, encouragement, and countless opportunities given by The Freedom Story.” Sarah expands of her growing potential; “Whether it’s leadership, public speaking, working with others, or communication skills, these opportunities have helped me grow into a confident and capable person”.
Another student, Yam (20), highlights the helpful support of a mentor from TFS, and writes, “The activities we’ve been able to participate in, alongside other scholarship students, staff, and families, have been wonderful in building strong relationships.” As Yam furthers her studies pursuing her Bachelor’s degree, she notes, “Luckily, I have people guiding me along the way, showing me that what I once thought was difficult isn’t so hard with effort and support.”
”I used to be incredibly shy… but now I’ve gained more confidence in myself,” writes Misu, a 17-year-old student. “Now, I’m a leader who goes out with the staff to share the knowledge I’ve learned with younger students and friends. I’m really happy to be part of something that contributes to society.” Misu tells of the strengthening relationship with her mother and the support of the staff during the difficulty of the flood. “After our home was flooded, my mom and I had to find a new place to live, and many of our belongings were damaged. But the staff came to help by bringing food, checking in on us, and supporting us financially with our new home and school supplies...In the future, I hope to live peacefully—just me and my mom—with enough money to take care of her health, doing a job I enjoy without too much pressure.”
Sarah, Yam, and Misu, along with dozens of others, are able to learn, grow, and support one another through our programs because of your support. We are so moved by these girls’ stories, and wanted to share their gratitude with you. As Sarah says, “my family and I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to The Freedom Story, all the staff and every supporter. We are truly grateful!”
Yours in hope,
The Freedom Story
