“When I first walked into the hotel on the first day, I was super excited! Our school has never had the chance to join something like this before,” says Chinawit, a high school student from Chiang Rai.
“Even though it was our first time, we learned so much about online dangers, human trafficking, and children’s rights. We’re going to take all that knowledge back to share with the younger students at our school.”
This summer, 60 student council members from six schools across Northern Thailand attended The Freedom Story's two-day trafficking prevention camp—an immersive training ground for the next generation of anti-trafficking advocates.
Throughout the camp, we taught students and teachers how to spot trafficking risks, exercise their rights, and prevent exploitation. They practiced teaching skills through games, presentations, and hands-on activities designed to build confidence and leadership.
Thanks to your support, these students are now stepping into the roles of mentors and teachers. They are teaching younger classmates—in classrooms, shelters, and community spaces—how to stay safe from the threat of human trafficking.
Since August, they have already reached more than 200 students.
Keeping a child in school is one of the most effective ways to reduce trafficking risk. But training young people to prevent human trafficking creates lasting change that ripples through communities.
Your generosity helped empower these students to take what they learned and become leaders who make their schools and communities safer.
After the camp, one student, named Sit, shared this insight:
“Children’s rights are something every child should know. Sometimes kids may not even realize they’re being violated, but with the right knowledge, they can protect and defend themselves.”
Your partnership is empowering students like Sit to protect themselves, stand up for their rights, and advocate for others. Thank you for multiplying the power of prevention in local schools.
