Dear Friends,
Thank you once again for supporting World Heart Beat Music Academy via The Bob Buiaroski Bursary Fund, which provides music opportunities to young people from all backgrounds across south London.
Our Bursary Songwriting, Guitar, Vocal and Gig Training musicians continue to grow from strength to strength as they take part in lessons, ensembles and performance opportunities at our two venues in Wandsworth.
Our Gig Band Christmas Concert was a great successand a fantastic opportunity for our young musicians to shine on stage, building confidence and self-esteem. The band, led by Sian Kelly, Scipio Mosley and Ayo Vincent gave our young musicians the opportunity to perform a range of pop, rock and contemporary repertoire for bass, piano and guitar.
We also held our Christmas Concert, with carol singing, festive classics and mince pies. We took part in the Big Give Christmas Campaign ‘Bring a smile to a child this Christmas' which raised vital funds to help provide music tuition via our First Beats Programmeto a primary school situated on one of Wandsworth’s housing estates.
Our Heart Beat Latin band, led by Omar Puente performed at our annual Winter Warmer party at Kimber Road last month. This informal party is the perfect opportunity for World Heart Beat to invite friends, donors and those who have signed up to our membership programme to come and see first-hand what we do.
Last year, we introduced our first Singing Soiree for our vocal students, with our next one scheduled for late March. We have also started a new Grade 5 Music Theory and Conducting Course with Conductor Alice Farnhamas well as National Opera Studios workshops (pianists Grade 5+).
We have a brilliant line-up of concerts from the worlds of jazz, classical, folk, contemporary and much more. You can also catch our young students performing, attend masterclasses, open days (try an instrument of your choice) or sit back and enjoy a coffee or a light bite in our cafe. From 12-15 March, we launch our first ever Piano in The Elms Festival – celebrating everything piano in the heart of Nine Elms. The festival promises to be a joyous date in the calendar that brings the piano to the heart of its community, showcasing phenomenal artists and providing performance opportunities for local talent of all ages and backgrounds, as well as free lessons for young people. Intimate café piano concerts, inspiring masterclasses and vibrant performances will help foster a deep sense of pride and connection across Nine Elms and beyond.
Thank you again - we cannot thank you enough for your support.
