Great Progress!

Dear Friends!

Over the last six months, our community has been buzzing with learning, growth, and meaningful connections. Since our last report, our classrooms have welcomed students from all walks of life, and together we've shared knowledge and experiences that go far beyond textbooks.

It’s been a remarkably busy season—we held an incredible 1,094 classes in English, Greek, and Computer skills. Every week, our halls fill with over 300 students, all eager to learn and support one another. Language classes have taken on a rhythm of their own, with an average of 11 students in each session, making for lively discussions and strong bonds.

For 13 dedicated individuals, the journey into caregiving reached a significant milestone. They completed the fourth round of our specialized training, dedicating 100 hours to theory and gaining vital first aid skills with MVI. Now, these students are out in the field, applying what they’ve learned through practical training as they prepare to graduate and take their new skills into their future employments. Two candidates have already been offered employment as Caregivers by Koroneos House, an elderly care home.

But our story isn’t just about what happens in the classroom. In March, more than 60 community members came together for a day at the National Gallery—a celebration of art, culture, and the joy of discovery. And in January, a group of our English students ventured to the Dali Cybernetics exhibition at the Cultural Center in Tavros, turning an ordinary class into an extraordinary adventure.

We believe in preparing our students for every opportunity, so employability has been a key focus. In February, our social integration team stood side-by-side with 21 candidates, supporting them as they interviewed with a luxury hotel chain in Athens. Thanos, our workshop leader, has been a guiding force, offering sessions on the ever-evolving job landscape in Athens and partnering with organizations like Saffron Kitchen Project to broaden horizons.

Meanwhile, Timo, another member of our social integration team, and Helena, our Education Lead, joined forces to offer targeted job interview prep within our English classes, blending language skills with practical interview strategies. Students shared their personal stories and experiences, making every session not just a lesson but a conversation.

Our staff and volunteers have also been committed to growth, taking part in first aid training with MVI in February, ensuring that we’re ready to support our community in every way possible.

Of course, community is at the heart of everything we do. At the start of November, we held our Welcome Back event, inviting 14 partner organizations and welcoming new faces to our space. That same month, we took advantage of the autumn air for a picnic and walk in Immitos—a reminder of the importance of nature and relaxation.

The colder months were brightened by our Friday movie nights throughout January and February, bringing people together to unwind, share laughs, and enjoy good company.

Our students’ hard work paid off in December, as three B1 and six B2 level English learners sat for their exams—and every single one passed, a testament to their dedication and the supportive spirit of our teachers.

Every one of these moments—big or small—reminds us that our work is not just about classes and certificates. It’s about community, opportunity, and helping each person write their own story of growth.

None of this would be possible without your continuous financial support and our excellent team!

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

In Solidarity!

Gabi, Catharina and Gabriella & all ECHOs
