Happy Holiday! The Friends of Arhaus Children’s Home in Solukhumbu

The boy, Hari , is seven years old, and his sister, Manisha , was 3-1/2 years old when arrived at Friends of Arhaus Children’s Home. Their father passed away from Covid, so they had to work for other families as unpaid servants. Then, just after several months later, their mother committed suicide. To add to their challenges, they were born into the lowest of Nepal’s caste systems, called Daalid, which makes it very difficult to find work and guarantees suffering discrimination in the rural areas. Today, they are slowly beginning to smile again and are fitting in quite nicely with the love within the Home and from the other children. This is a representative story of most of the children we are supporting at Arhaus Children’s Home.

Sujata's father was a trekking porter and was lost during the Everest trek from altitude sickness, leaving the family of four children and their mother destitute and facing starvation. After The Small World was alerted, we placed the eleven-year-old girl, Sujata, with her mother’s permission, in the Arhaus Children’s Home in Solukhumbu; the youngest child, nine years old, is being sponsored at home. For the other two children, fifteen and thirteen years old support their mother at home.

Many Children like Hari, Manisha and Sujata are counting on your support in this holiday season
