In Nepal, as girls grow up in a patriarchal society where speaking up and asserting themselves has been challenging . It’s crucial for these girls to learn how to express themselves, build healthy relationships, and set personal boundaries along with their academic journey.
At The Small World we are helping girls start their conversation with this fun and educational card game called “What Would You Do?”
This card game is designed with and for girls in three age groups by She’s the first. The game includes situations that encourage girls to think about how they would handle different situations, promoting discussion and learning in an engaging way.
Through play and conversation amongst peers and a mentor, girls will explore the building blocks of healthy relationships and strategies for creating safe personal boundaries. In a society where their voices are often marginalized, it’s essential for them to gain the confidence to express their thoughts and feelings.
Understanding how to create and maintain healthy relationships is key for personal development. Equally important is the ability to set safe personal boundaries, ensuring that girls can protect themselves and advocate for their needs.
Goals of the Game
Increase Confidence: Helping girls believe in themselves and their abilities.
Enhance Self-Awareness: Encouraging girls to understand their own emotions and reactions.
Set Healthy Boundaries: Teaching girls how to say no and protect their personal space.
Advocate for Themselves and Others: Empowering girls to speak up not just for themselves but also for their peers.
Discuss SRHR Matters: Opening up conversations about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) to ensure girls are informed and confident in these areas.
“I wanted to continue to play this game because there are many situations given which I can relate and sometime I have been stuck on how to respond to those situation and how to share about them. Here I am learning about consents, my own emotions and even time management through game” Lochana shared.
By playing “What Would You Do?”, our girls i will learn to navigate their world with confidence and resilience. This game is a step towards empowering them to become strong, self-aware individuals who can advocate for themselves and create healthy, respectful relationships.
