Dear beloved GlobalGiving community,
Anna and I spent the last few weeks in the same home that much of The Genius of Marian was filmed in. Surrounded by family and my grandmother's art I returned home feeling very connected to my mother Pam White, who passed away five years ago (June 6th, 2016). I wanted to share a scene I edited while my mother was still alive, but never made it to the finished film. In this clip, my mother and my sister Devon remember Marian as an artist and a grandmother. We see more of Marian’s paintings, archival, super-8 family movies and Devon describes how Pam’s recent interest in painting is helping her feel connected to Marian.
My mother dedicated her life as a social worker and therapist to helping those in need. She would be so proud of the network of support we have created through the Genius of Caring project. Fall is just around the corner and soon we will be making an exciting announcement about plans to make The Genius of Marian available more widely free of cost. Stay tuned ;) While we continue to stay at home and practice social/physical distancing, we wanted to share some information about what we can do as caregivers, to take care of ourselves and our loved ones.
Below are a few resources and articles we have found helpful:
Our community partner, Family Caregiver Alliance has many great resources including legal and financial planning, dealing with medical providers, and community connections tools. InForum has a wonderful article about technology for caregivers. The Alzheimer's Association has some helpful resources and tips for Caregiver Health. And an inspiring article about innovative teens from The Washington Post.
Thank you for your continued support.
With much love and gratitude,
The Genius of Caring family
