NEW FORUM CALLED CONVERSATIONS!

The Genius of Caring is starting a new forum called conversations, to tackle difficult topics, with the goal of creating awareness and facilitating solutions, connection and healing.  We are extremely proud of this project, which is the recipient of an National Endowment for the Arts ArtWorks grant and urge you to visit the site and get involved if you have not already.   The site launched in beta format September last year in conjunction with the PBS airing of The Genius of Marian.

ABOUT THE SITE

The Genius of Caring is an interactive documentary project that captures the complex emotional experience of caring for loved ones and offers visitors a place to share stories and connect with others. The site features documentary portraits of family caregivers of those living with Alzheimer’s and  other caregiving intensive diseases  and allows users to contribute to a community story archive. The project offers a uniquely intimate glimpse into the caregiving experience and creates an intimate portrait of a community connected through compassion.

WHATS NEW

The best way to have focused conversations with our community online one one theme or topic at a time. We are discussing a new topic every month or so through our website and our social media accounts. The first theme, secrecy, inspired by the prompts: "If a loved one was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, would you keep it a secret?

Our second topic is support, inspired by the prompt "I have found the most support from"

We have invited guest bloggers to the site and are planning regular posts to targeted communities both on the Genius of Caring site and in our social media channels.

In the past two months, these conversations have driven over 15,000 visitors to THE GENIUS OF CARING site and over 300 people have signed up on the site!
