Dear friends,
The John McGrath library project continues here in El Progreso, Honduras as we slowly but steadily make progress towards our goal of creating this transformative learning space.
In a country where 75% of ten year olds cannot read and understand a simple text by the end of primary school, it is hard to overstate the importance of this project. We are fervent believers that libraries are crucial spaces of learning, inclusivity, and community engagement, and we can't wait to create this as a space that is creative, effective, and deeply impactful for the children and young people it will serve.
At present, we are waiting for confirmation regarding the library’s location. In the meantime, designs have been elaborated, local carpenters sought out, and book lists created! Many minds and imaginations have been part of collectively shaping these ideas, and we’re excited to have so many people be a part of the creation of this space. More updates will follow soon!
