Young people transforming their lives with support

educate. continues to grow and reach more young people in rural Honduras every day.

Currently, our scholarship programme includes 46 rural youth: 43 secondary school students and 4 students in university. Most of our scholarship students come from families earning below the Honduran minimum wage. More than 60% are girls and young women, who face not only economic barriers but also gender inequalities that limit their access to education. These young people are now able to continue their studies at public secondary schools and universities, paving the way toward a future with more opportunities.

But at educate., a scholarship means much more than financial support. Each student receives comprehensive accompaniment that includes:

  • Academic tutoring when needed
  • Access to mental health services and counseling
  • Weekly participation in youth programs
  • Leadership workshops
  • Safe spaces to grow, express themselves, and lead

We are proud to see how our scholars not only advance academically but also grow as community leaders, advocates for their rights, and role models. Their strength and determination inspire us every day. On behalf of the educate. team and every one of our youth: thank you for believing in the transformative power of young people!

Youth Empowerment with Creativity and Expression

In 2025, educate. continues to grow and strengthen its youth empowerment programs, providing more opportunities for young people to develop key skills through art and communication. We’d like to share a few of the highlights with you:

Art Program: EducARTE

Through EducARTE, 21 scholarship recipients and other youth volunteers are developing their skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, and community muralism. This program uses art as a medium for expression and social transformation, promoting creativity and critical thinking. Participants not only explore artistic techniques but also reflect on their surroundings, using art as a tool to raise awareness and build peace within their communities. Currently, they are working on a mural that reflects youth as peacebuilders in their communities!

Communications Program: Joven Comunica

The Joven Comunica program has grown this year, with the participation of 8 young leaders who are strengthening their skills in digital communication, photography, writing, and audiovisual production. This space is designed to empower youth to tell their own stories and shed light on the realities of their communities. Through workshops and hands-on projects, they develop skills in public speaking, creative writing, photography, and video/audio editing, becoming active storytellers and agents of change in their communities. The most recent project they are developing is a ‘Photo-voice’ initiative that uses analogue photography to share the realities of rural life as a young person, and the barriers and opportunities that they see and experience in their communities.

Libraries

Meanwhile, educate.’s library network continues to expand. This year, we are excited to be working with three new rural primary schools to develop school-based community libraries! These spaces transform learning environments through murals, bookshelves, and – of course – a variety of books for all age levels.

Thank you for your ongoing support of this work, and being part of educate.’s growing community,

Best wishes,

Antonia
