Last month, Marcus and Bum had the privilege of leading a financial literacy workshop for 40 staff and artisans from the Thai Village Foundation. Thai Village exists to train and employ low-income people. They make a lot of cool products you can buy online. We spent time talking not only about practical tools like budgeting, saving, and setting financial goals but also about how our shared Christian values shape the way we view and handle money.
We also touched on some pretty uncomfortable topics in Thailand such as setting boundaries with extended family and cultural expectations. These actually turned out to be some of our most engaging discussions. Personal finance coaching has always been part of TLC’s program for young mothers and we love sharing this knowledge with others in the community when the opportunity arises.
