Dear GlobalGiving Community,
This is a big seaside community position next to the big industrial fishing companies. This community use to be an artisanal fishing community and home to many young people working in the industrial fishing boat. Over the years, there have been a lot of issues with these local workers from fatal accidents to unpaid benefits etc. We did two screenings in this community to make sure key leaders, artisanal and industrial fishermen, business men and women etc are able see the film and discuss.
We discussed the present issues in the community and issues in the film such as unpaid benefit to families of deceased industrial fishermen, health and safety, illegal unreported and unregulated fishing activities in our waters, Food security, migration, fish scarcity, loss of livelihood,
The audience proposed that we continue this campaign, continuing the lobbying and engagements that we have been doing and they assure us that we have their full support.
We are grateful for your continued support.
Barmmy Boy
