Dear friends,
So far this academic year has been really challenging financially, however it’s also been incredibly productive.
Our project has persevered through all hardships we faced, including a very cold and dry winter months, here in the village of Rusalya, Bulgaria and insufficient funds for the pallets we use to heat the boarding house and the school building.
Thankfully, we participated in the GIVINGTUESDAY campaign which was indeed very successful and the funds enabled us to afford not only the heating which we are still using as the months are unexpectedly cold still, but also some finishing works on our new canteen/kitchen space which took 5 years to build, as well as a long-awaiting trip the kids have asked for and have been waiting for since last summer.
The trip included a visit to the historical town of Lovech, where all 43 children from our boarding school had an open filed history lesson about the mediaeval times, as part of their school curriculum, a visit to the biggest zoo in Bulgaria and a lovely walk in nature and a social gathering with other children from other schools to exchange knowledge and make new friends.
Thank you ever so much for the continued support! We wouldn't exist without you!
Kindest regards,
Rusalya Family
