Court's dissenting opinion referenced our article

Thank you for your support. We continue our commitment to impactful journalism in the third quarter.
One key issue that has drawn significant attention in Taiwanese society is the death penalty. On September 20, the Constitutional Court issued a ruling, concluding that, under stricter legal procedures and institutional safeguards, the death penalty remains constitutional in Taiwan and is only applicable to "the most serious crimes." Notably, the court's dissenting opinion referenced an article from The Reporter for kids, "Confession of a 30-year veteran judicial officer, Chen Zhimin, on the scales of crime and punishment," highlighting the legal community's recognition of The Reporter for kids.

The Brilliant October of The Reporter for kids
In collaboration with National Taiwan University's Innovation Academy, The Reporter for kids hosted the event "Exploring, from Zero to Infinity—Breaking Boundaries from Classroom to Life." This cross-disciplinary lecture featured a diverse group of speakers, including university students, elementary school teachers, principals, professors, and student affairs directors. The audience, ranging in age from 5 to 70 years old, filled the venue and even required a "rock zone" seating. The speakers shared their personal explorations of life and learning, evoking both laughter and tears from the audience. Afterward, the lively discussions continued as the speakers, rather than offering "standard answers," shared their experiences of overcoming life challenges and invited the audience to reflect on the nature of exploration.

In October, civil society groups made history by organizing "Big FUN Kai-Da Avenue—Children's Future City", promoting children's rights. The event took place on Ketagalan Boulevard in front of the Presidential Office. Children were able to enjoy free play, listen to stories, visit markets, design future cars, watch open-air movies, and participate in a youth street parliament. Children also had the opportunity to stand on a democratic float and share their "political views," even renaming the boulevard. This time, adults simply "listened without speaking," giving children the platform to make their voices heard in the heart of the city!
