Dear friends,
Last year, we told you about a dream. A dream to build a bigger school with room for more students and more grades. We must tell you that we were shooting at the moon and we failed. But we fell among the stars. Having a school for a thousand students in a big land is not a dream we can make happen right away and will take years to build an ecoschool for a thousand students.
But something unpredictable happened on the way; this taught us a lesson of faith and that, even though sometimes things don’t happen as planned, God always has good plans for us. The story goes like this: A school nearby our main branch closed its doors last year because they were highly affected by the pandemic crisis. When they learned that we were in the search for a highschool license and bigger space, they contacted us. They offered a possibility of renting their place and we said YES! That means that our dream to have a high school did come true!
With the donations we received through GlobalGiving, we equipped the new school with student desks, boards, a library and an art classroom. We hired new teachers with the most innovative ideas and we built a curriculum for our new students. As part of our curriculum, we included new subjects such as innovation and leadership, life skills, citizenship, and we doubled the STEAM hours as well as started teaching Social Studies in English for a total of +7 hours of immersive English learning a week.
With 50 students enrolled in grades sixth, seventh and eighth, we kicked off our new branch. Our new license allows us to offer K-11 education to up to 300 more students. We wanted to start little by little offering first up to eighth grade. We are so thrilled and grateful to have the opportunity to continue the process that we start all the way from kindergarten to middle and high school. There is so much impact we can make in the youth of our community through our school: develop XXI century skills, strengthen ethical values, explore their creativity and capacity to innovate, prevent youth from getting involved in harmful activities on the streets, continue to spread hope among the families in our community. And so much more!
Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for supporting this dream. Thank you from the voices of 350 students who are enrolled this year in our schools. Thank you from their families.
Together we are the change we want to see in the world.
All the best,
