Dear friends!

As usual, it is a great pleasure to share with you our progress at Colegio La Fontaine as we continue to reach out to more children and their families in our community.

In Colegio La Fontaine our team works hard to keep on offering high quality education to our 250 students. After the “Día de la familia” celebration, we held a wellbeing retreat with our teachers and staff. We enjoyed a typical “sancocho” prepared by the team, we shared our life stories, reflected on our personal plans and how we were going to face the second semester of the school year. Some teachers had an amusing time in the river and all in all we recharged our energies to come back to school full of new ideas and inner force to fulfill our objectives.

On July 27th we celebrated grandparents’ day. We invited our grandparents to spend a day at school. We shared stories, sang traditional songs, ate typical food, made arts and crafts, and had a wonderful time learning from them. On August 10th we had a trip with students and their families to La Bandera ecopark in order to promote healthy habits and the value of caring for the environment. Pet dogs were also invited to the walk! August 18th was the dream day for our fifth grade students because they finally had their camping night. The camp is an immersion experience where fifth graders practice their oral skills in English as they also spend time in nature and develop abilities such as teambuilding, creativity and resilience. The students put up their tents, had a great night together around the campfire eating marshmallows and wrapped it all up with a wonderful time in the pool.

As the year comes to a close, we are getting ready to celebrate graduation day and continue to work on our goal of offering middle and high school education for our students next year. Thank you all for your support. Every time you give, you give hope and possibilities for the children in Siloé, Cali Colombia.

Big hugs,

Fundación ABLE team
