Good Day,
As promised, here is an update regarding the building of our Sisterhood Empowerment Academy (SEA). Currently, we are seeking $10,000 to construct the building foundation, so spread the word! Please see our accomplishments below and do not hesitate to contact me at (340) 714-7076. Your generous support for this important project means A LOT.
1. Met with St. John architect, William Willigerod, to develop our architectural plan-see a rough draft of the blueprint attached. Completing the detailed architectural drawing has been the primary focus for the last two months. The final plan is amazing. Thank you, Bill!
2. Secured recycled building materials from the Island Green Living Association’s new Reuse Center in Gifft Hill on St. John.
3. Identified two 20’ high cube shipping containers for the building design.
4. Shipped building materials and office furniture from Puerto Rico while attending the Virgin Islands Department of Health strategic planning session for Sisterhood Agenda’s St. John Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Project (STJ Y-SAPP).
5. To date, raised over $39,000 to build the SEA, including the Operation Girl fundraising challenge—thank you donors, we could not do this without you!
6. Gathered documents, including the architectural drawing, to submit our building permit application; it should be submitted by the end of next week.
7. Began working with media, branding and public relations specialists to create a comprehensive media campaign for Sisterhood Agenda in 2015.
8. Launched our new Tumblr page, http://sisterhoodagenda.tumblr.com/#, and began working on a new updated, responsive website focused on public education and fundraising.
9. Prepared items to sell at the annual Animal Care Center of St. John Flea Market as a fundraiser for the SEA.
I look forward to sharing more updates, including pictures and video, as we break ground and begin building. Thank you for being a part of the SEA!
