Tremendous progress has been made with the Sisterhood Empowerment Academy (SEA) eco-building. After blessing the land with a small ceremony that included prayers and drumming, Phase I (driveway excavation, foundation footings (partially complete), container placement, and storage is complete!
Phase II will begin once additional funds are received within the month. The next phase includes building the media room, library and small kitchenette area. The media center is critical to livestreaming events to and from the SEA.
Importantly, the SEA is also the program space utilized for the SHE: Sisters, Healthy & Empowered program, and other Sisterhood Agenda initiatives such as the Global Girls Education Project. The SEA is a green building with panoramic ocean views, organic gardens, and permaculture design.
Construction of the SEA should be completed by the end of the summer 2015. Then, programs at the new SEA location begin!
