"We’ve turned an old 40’ shipping container into a remarkable resource for women and girls at the SEA in St. John.”
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. We started with an idea of the SEA, Sisterhood Empowerment Academy, as an oceanfront, eco-friendly, empowering space for women’s health and healing in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.
After searching for over one year, we found the perfect land parcel and secured the blueprints, the permits, and funding from generous donors like you. We began construction with abundant blessings.
It is amazing what we have been able to build in ten months. We are almost done. We can see the bright light at the end of the tunnel- it’s the finish line!
Sisterhood Agenda is a champion of positive social change for women and girls around the globe. With eco suites, indoor and outdoor meeting spaces, a library, media room, organic gardens and more, the SEA is an innovative, trauma-informed approach to sisterhood, women’s support, empowerment, and sustainability.
Phases 1-6 are completed and Phase 7, the last phase, is underway. Our grand opening is scheduled for this summer. You will hear your name when we thank our donors because YOU made this possible. We are in this together.
Our eco suite accommodations are ready to receive overnight guests for health, healing, and wellness services. Our media center, kitchen, library, and outdoor meeting spaces are yet to be completed.
We are grateful that we have been able to raise $150,000 for the SEA! Sisterhood Agenda still needs to raise approximately 16% of funds from the original project budget of $178,000, a total of $28,000.
Can we count on your support to finish what we started? Your donation today in any amount, large or small, would mean A LOT. Also, feel free to share this information with friends who may want to join our team and celebrate the successful completion of SEA construction in St. John.
We appreciate your donor gift more than you may know. If you are able to, we invite you to DONATE here at Global Giving before the end of 2016.
P.S. You can read more about the concept of the SEA here and our SEA building process here.
