Providing Emotional Support and Connection

By Marilyn Thompson | Fund Development Chair

Thank you for your support of The Virtues Project. Whether you are a first-time donor or have been supporting us for a while, I expect that you favor the notion that virtues have an important role to play in making the world a better place. Just this month donors like you have told us:

“I love everything about this project and the possibilities for Global Healing during this global reset that it offers.”

“The Virtues Project is a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow. With the world in such turmoil I am more convinced than ever that everyone of us needs to learn how to spread these virtues. The program works and when you learn how to use the virtues you were born with you will be amazed!”

“The Virtues Project addresses *why* people do things, rather than just *what* they do. When people care about others as much or more than they care about themselves, unity in diversity will be established on the planet and all will benefit.”

“By sharing the knowledge of the virtues we understand the profound ability it has to bring about positive changes in the world.”

Today more than ever we all need what The Virtues Project has to offer, simple strategies to awaken and strengthen our virtues and our lives.

In recent months, three major catastrophic events have diverted VPIA’s attention from our longer-term initiatives. The coronavirus pandemic, the economic crisis, and racism with its violent expressions have presented each of us with our own unique personal challenges. In response, we diverted project resources toward efforts to mobilize a broad social media dialogue around using the strategies and practices of The Virtues Project to cope with these challenges.

We also increased information sharing and highlighted activities within and around the virtues community, like virtues picks, virtues circles, and virtues conversations that provide emotional support and connection to one another. Perhaps you joined us on Facebook, read our postings, and shared comments.  Virtues Project Facilitators around the world continue to offer information, inspiration, sharing circles, and even workshops to help us through these challenges.

This doesn’t mean that the longer term initiatives have stalled. We continue our work to revamp the website with a focus on communicating the power of the Five Strategies of The Virtues Project. We continue to work on establishing a strong social media presence so that we can better connect to people who will benefit from these messages. And we continue to plan for future releases as well as a wide variety of new online and in-person capabilities that can build connections globally as we continue to expand the network of spokespersons.

As an all-volunteer organization, progress has been slow, but steady. Our current life challenges have set us back, but have not changed our resolve to build a strong global movement to realize our shared vision for a virtues-based transformation that will bring hope, peace and justice to the world.

And, as one of our donors observed earlier this month, “If everyone could just give $10.00 a month, imagine the great work that the Virtues Project would be able to do around the world!?!!”

Thank you for staying with us through these difficult times. Together we can indeed create a world of peace, hope and justice for all!
