Transforming Schools by Empowering Virtues

By Marilyn Thompson | Project Leader

This report highlights a major global challenge and how your gifts are contributing to its solution.

As you know, The Virtues ProjectTM (TVP) awakens the virtues inherent within each of us, transforming homes, schools, workplaces, and communities worldwide in positive ways. In today's rapidly changing world, nurturing virtues has become more important than ever. Nowhere is this more important than with our children.

It has been said that "the philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next". The values, principles, and ideas instilled in the youth through education will shape future governance and societal norms.

For this reason, the Virtues Project International Association (VPIA) is focusing on increasing the practice of virtues in school communities across the globe. Time and time again the Five Strategies of TVP have been shown to enhance children's behavior, interpersonal relationships, and academic excellence.

This focus on schools has two prongs. The first is to identify and honor schools around the world that have already adopted The Virtues Project. This program is considering two dozen schools for its pilot phase. Among them are both public and private schools, schools in indigenous communities and schools with disciplinary challenges before they adopted TVP. The schools will receive recognition for their accomplishments and their experience will provide valuable insight for others.

The second prong is to expand VPIA’s capability to help more schools adopt TVP. This project will initially serve schools that are facing challenges in discipline, disrespect, and lack of motivation. It will provide comprehensive resources, including training and materials, to introduce TVP strategies and practices, embedding TVP into every aspect of school life and culture. It will be assessment-based, gathering qualitative and quantitative data from participating schools as a basis for developing best practices and models that other schools can adopt.

Your support enables VPIA to design and seek funding for programs like these. You are helping to build an educational framework that promotes empathy, resilience, and positive relationships and will lead to a transformed world where virtues are cultivated and embraced. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.
