Challenge

The history of any war is more than bare facts about the battling armies, casualties and movements of the frontlines. It is also about the fates of common people and impelled relocations, but also about deliverance, providential escapes, and hopes cherished and coming true. The interviewees have witnessed hitting of their homes with missiles, parting with their families, and being targeted at while passing battlefront checkpoints on their way from their hometowns to Hungary.

Solution

This project will add to the documentation of personal experiences of Ukrainian refugees, for the interviewees come from many Ukrainian cities and villages. Presentations for Ukrainian communities will help promote links among Ukrainian refugees living in Hungary, and assist in their painless adaptation into the Hungarian society.

Long-Term Impact

The book may be used as a source of reading for Ukrainian schools abroad, and for Hungarian schools where Ukrainian chidren study together with their Hungarian peers.
