Bringing STEM Education to Remote Afghan Schools

By Nagmanaaz Bakhtiyorov | Head of Fundraising and Development

In present times, having practical knowledge is as important as having theoretical knowledge. When it comes to schools in remote villages of Afghanistan, we are faced with the harsh reality of lack of resources to give proper practical education to the students. With the help of GlobalGiving's online fundraising campaign, we are trying to develop scientific interest among students in Afghanistan. Our fellows are thrilled to bring math and science models to their students, who are eager to try out practical experiments.

Teach for Afghanistan is committed to supporting bright primary and secondary school children in Nangarhar and Parwan, even in challenging circumstances. With our innovative approach, we're building a new and optimistic future for our students and the country.

Our 60 fellows have pledged to educate 2000 girls and 1000 boys. We've identified 8 schools in both the provinces that need immediate assistance, and we're eager to help more students as we approach our goal. We're using STEM educational models to boost student interaction and sharpen thinking skills. By encouraging creative problem-solving, we're helping students develop a deep interest in science.

Furthermore, we believe that education is not only about academics but also about character development. Our fellows are mentoring the students and teaching them values such as leadership, teamwork, and perseverance. We hope that these values will stay with them long after they leave our classrooms. With this project, TAO is not only developing new generations of scientists but also creating well-rounded, responsible citizens who will shape the future of Afghanistan.
