Cutting, sewing and computer science courses continue very well and the participating girls are increasingly developing their skills!
However, our project leader Sara points out the temporary difficulty of contacting our local referent John Upalt, a teacher living in a peripheral district of Nagercoil and coordinating and monitoring the progress of the project.
Infact, although India is one of the continually developing countries, many South areas have dramatic situations of extreme poverty: without water, medical care, sewage, roads and connections with the city, many villages are completely isolated. For this reason, not always our referent Upalt can go to Nagercoil and find a phone or internet coverage to be able to send news and updates.
For more details, we will have to wait for the monitoring trip in November: Sara will be able to personally test the activities of women and attend the graduation of some participants, raising information and photographic material for the end of the year.
Our goal is to increase the number of students and the variety of courses and to pursue the idea of microcredit, thus giving young Indian women the opportunity to become more autonomous.
