Dear Friends,
Aleimar would like to begin with all of you a journey of discovery of the precious work done by the local partner Lok Seva Sangam in India. With these reports we really want to share updates about its daily activities in favor of the most underprivileged people that live in the slums of Mumbai.
“Stories of change to overcome barriers” is one of the main messages that the organization wants to focus on. Founded in 1976, Lok Seva Sangam (LSS) has been working passionately towards better healthcare concentrating on the control of Leprosy and Tuberculosis. We would like to celebrate all the doctors and volunteers whose healing hands and caring hearts make a difference every day in this battle against these diseases in the slums. Every 15 days the local staff is on the ground visiting all the patients, providing nutritional support, education, and counseling.
LSS also organizes seminars with coordinators and volunteers and wider prevention activities in neighborhoods most at risk.
For example, during July and August our local partner has organized a skin and health checkup for women that live in Turbhe’s red-light area. This was more than just a medical camp; it was a mission to extend care, compassion, and dignity to those who often go unnoticed by creating a supportive environment where these women felt seen and valued. Dedicated volunteers helped with medicine distribution and engaged with the children in playful activities, bringing moments of joy and laughter to their day.
Hearing the stories of struggle and resilience from some of the women was both humbling and inspiring. Their strength in the face of adversity reminded us why initiatives like this are so important!
Follow us to find out what upcoming activities and results we will achieve together!
