Dear TPF Donors,
On International Women's Day this year, TPF launched the EmpowerHER Single Mothers Fund and you were among the first to believe in this work. THANK YOU!
Here is where we stand:
Single mothers in Türkiye face a well-documented employment gap. Tertiary-educated women aged 25 to 34 are employed at a rate of 62% in Türkiye, compared to an OECD average of 84%. The barriers are not their education level. They are the complex challenges of raising children alone, without financial backup, flexible work, or a support network to fall back on. No single organization holds the full answer to that. TPF's response was to build the structure that brings the right organizations together.
Since March, TPF has been coordinating five partner NGOs, Bekar Anneler Dernegi, KAGIDER, AÇEV-Esitlige Deger, MaviKalem Dernegi, and YenidenBiz Dernegi, each developing their own program module, curated specifically to increase the employability of single mothers in Türkiye. Each organization contributes what it does best. Bekar Anneler Dernegi grounds the program in lived experience, leading peer solidarity and community-building sessions. MaviKalem leads on emotional health and legal rights. AÇEV-Esitlige Deger brings its expertise in parenting empowerment. KAGIDER delivers financial literacy and employment readiness, drawing on its corporate networks to open real pathways to work. YenidenBiz closes the program with digital skills training, CV building, LinkedIn positioning, and personal branding.
Alongside the curriculum, TPF completed the design of the program's monitoring and evaluation framework, which will track participant outcomes throughout the 10 weeks and beyond. An independent evaluator will assess what works, where the partnership model holds, and what the next cohort needs.
The program begins in September, as the school year starts. We will continue to update you about the program. Thank you for making this possible!
Best regards,
Team TPF
