Wildfires pose a significant threat in Turkiye, often spreading rapidly and forcing mass evacuations, especially during summer when small fires frequently ignite. TPF, in partnership with Afet Platformu, tracks needs and response efforts in real-time to support affected communities. The TPF Wildfire Relief Fund provides immediate aid such as food, water, shelter, and medical supplies, and funds long-term recovery efforts to restore livelihoods and resilience in impacted areas.
Wildfires are a persistent threat in Turkiye, especially during the summer months when small fires frequently ignite across the country. In recent years, the simultaneous outbreak of large fires in densely populated areas has severely strained the resources available for response. Strong winds have exacerbated the situation, causing fires to spread rapidly and leading to mass evacuations in many regions.
This Fund is among TPF's permanent funds to support recovery and preparedness programs in communities most impacted by wildfires. We monitor the impact on affected communities and work with partners at Afet Platformu to allocate funds to where they're needed most. Immediately after the disaster struck, the fund supports first responders to meet food, fuel, clean water, medicine, and shelter needs. We also support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in the region.
The wildfire grants from TPF foster resilience and sustainable recovery in affected communities. By supporting livelihoods and long-term rebuilding efforts, these funds help communities regain stability, improve preparedness for future disasters, and reduce vulnerability. This approach ensures that impacted populations not only recover but also develop stronger, more resilient systems to withstand future wildfires and other emergencies, promoting lasting positive change.
