Since the launch of the Train 200 Leaders on Flood Early Warning project, Elite Star Foundation has continued to focus on strengthening flood preparedness and protecting vulnerable communities in Niger State, Nigeria. The project aims to train 200 community leaders in flood-prone areas to interpret early warning alerts, monitor river conditions, coordinate emergency communication, and organize safe evacuations, helping protect more than 2,000 residents.
The project has a total funding target of $4,000, which is intended to support the planned training activities and equip community leaders with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond effectively to flood risks. According to the project's current GlobalGiving page, $0 has been raised toward the $4,000 goal, with one donor recorded. This means the full project budget of $4,000 remains outstanding, and no project expenditure can yet be reported as funded through the donations displayed on the platform.
At this stage, the financial position highlights the need to secure the resources required to implement the planned activities. Elite Star Foundation remains focused on translating the project's objectives into practical community preparedness measures. Once funding becomes available, resources will be directed toward delivering the training, strengthening local early warning communication systems, and supporting community-level evacuation planning. The intended outcome is to help communities act promptly when flood warnings are issued, reduce avoidable loss of life and property, and protect livelihoods, including livestock and farm produce. This report reflects the financial information and planned activities published on the project's GlobalGiving page; verified training numbers, expenditure, and implementation milestones will be reported as they become available.
