Through its international cooperation projects, Sunshine Foundation aims to build the capacities of professionals in low and middle income countries to deliver locally high quality rehabilitation services to burn survivors. Over the years, your generous support has allowed us to work with physical and occupational therapists, social workers and other care providers by organizing trainings held in their own country, or internships held at Sunshine Foundation in Taiwan.
With your help in 2017, we were able to continue our three-year capacity building project for burn therapists in Central and South America focusing on hand rehabilitation. The first training held in 2016 focused on establishing the basis for hand rehabilitation, covering through theoretical and practical lectures topics such as anatomy, hand evaluation, planning interventions and splint making. In 2017, we continued to work with our partners to further strengthen skills and knowledge, so that burn survivors in Central and South America have access to the best care and can regain maximum hand function following their injury.
In 2017, we also carried out a site visit to our partner in Chennai, India, to catch up with their work helping women burn survivors, but also to explore how we can continue to work with them to further strengthen their burn physical rehabilitation program.
Our international capacity building projects would not be possible without your support. Your donations help bring attention to the needs of burn survivors worldwide. We look forward to your continued support in 2018 so that together, we can change the lives of burn survivors worldwide!
