We've funded our Aceh Midwife Training Project! All of our Aceh midwives are currently in the middle of their supplemental year of training. This was mandated by the Indonesian Health Department in order for midwives to keep their medical licenses. Your donations have gone to pay for their extra year of training, which they couldn't afford individually, and to purchase books and supplies for their continuing education. We are so grateful for your support for their extra training. Now they can continue to hold their jobs at the Bumi Sehat Aceh clinic and keep delivering loving, gentle, woman-to-woman midwifery care for our mothers-to-be and their families.
If you want to continue to support our Aceh clinic, we're currently fundraising to build new housing for our Aceh staff. Most of them were displaced in 2004 by the Indian Ocean tsunami and have never been able to return home. Having individual housing on site will give them privacy, security and comfort.
If you're a monthly donor, we will roll your monthly donation over to our project to build staff housing for the medical personnel and their families in Aceh.
