Sustainable Villages financed the erection of a four classroom extension building to a vocational school named Juru Technical Secondary School south of Rwanda's capital Kigali in December 2024. Two of the classrooms were equipped with a total of 60 computers and fast internet. Currently the smart classrooms are used by existing training programs. From September 2025, two new three-year vocational training programs will be set up: one in Software Development and one in Computer Systems Architecture.
The money donated through the GlobalGiving platform is used to finance a coding club, that started in January 2025. Tutors from the software developer training center "The Gym" teach 40 students, most of them in grade 11, how to develop software. It is a voluntary activity for students. The 40 who participate are highly motivated.
