PNHF is aiming to train up young game rangers from local communities. We want to give opportunities to young people that have a passion for conservation, but don't have the means to go and study. We have already implemented our Junior Field Ranger Apprenticeship program through which we have employed 3 junior field rangers for a fixed 24 months, during which they receive training and experience. We would like to continue with this program and
The cost of studying and acquiring the necessary qualifications and experience to work in conservation makes it difficult for a lot of young people that have a passion for conservation, to be able to follow a career path in conservation. Jobs in conservation are often not high paying positions. Those than can afford to study, go for better paying careers. This affects the next generation of conservationists and the level of drive to conserve nature for our future generations.
We aim to give young persons from the local communities the opportunity to be trained up and work for two years to get all the necessary experience and qualifications to follow a career path in conservation. This will enable young passionate conservationists to access careers in conservation and to potentially make a difference in the protection of our natural heritage for our future generations.
It can greatly improve the quality of life for the youths enrolled in the program. It will create a more positive opinion and outlook from local communities towards conservation and our natural resources. It will have a positive effect on conservation as more passionate, experienced and qualified rangers are available to fill positions in future.
